A short film funded by the European Year of Cultural Heritage featuring past residents of a depopulated Lane in Cross, Co. Cavan.
Hollow Lane makes a connection with a disappearing way of life.
The Hollow Lane in Cross, near Mullagh, Co Cavan, was once a hive of activity with up to 26 families living and working on the lane. It is since desolated but the stories about the lane and some of its characters still go strong, held tight in the hearts and imaginations of the remaining former residents.
Borne out of recognition of the stellar work the Hollow Lane Golden Way Action Group carried out in bringing the lane back to life as a local amenity, a film had to be made to try capture a snippet of times past…
Screened in Cross Community Hall at the end of Heritage Week, August 2018, it was enjoyed by the participants, their families and the wider community.
